Stephen Hawking’s universe by John Boslough
(جهان استیون هاوکینگ نوشته جان بازلو)
Looking back, I realize this book was the one that unconsciously guided me toward theoretical physics, particularly quantum field theory in curved spacetime. I found it in a small library near the village where I spent my childhood. At the time, I didn’t know anything about Hawking’s radiation, black holes, or quantum field theory. I only knew the book was about a disabled physicist.
Tale of Tales
This is an old Russian animation directed by Yuri Norstein. This is my mom’s and my favorite animation. The animation is centered around the image of a little wolf (the spirit of memory) who witnesses the childhood joys, the horrors of war, and the tenderness of love. The main idea here is that we don’t remember the different fragments of our life in a chronological order.
I became deeply interested in Schopenhauer’s ideas when I read the book The Wisdom of Life for the first time. What impressed me the most were his thoughts on avoiding empty sophistication and his sharp critique of society’s habit of praising certain ideals.
